A 51-year-old man from North York won $1 million at Fallsview Casino on Sunday.
Niagara Casinos spokesperson Greg Medulun said Casilda Pouk put $20 in a slot machine called Mighty Millionaire, played for three minutes and won $1.039 million.
Medulun said Pouk, who was visiting the casino with his cousins, had not been to the casino in more than a year.
“There’s something extra lucky about Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara and the month of February,” said Medulun.
“I recall a number of years back when a $5.6-million megabucks jackpot hit for a retired nurse’s aide from Tonawanda on Valentine’s Day in 2002.
“I’m also reminded of the time when the largest slot jackpot in Canadian history hit at Fallsview Casino – almost $5.8 million – in October 2004 at the same time as then Prime Minister Paul Martin and his Liberal colleagues were at Fallsview Casino for their (Annual General Meeting).”
Medulun said Niagara Casinos “couldn’t be happier” for Pouk.
“Big jackpots are a part of the experience at Fallsview Casino,” he said. “It’s a reminder that you just never know what could happen when you come and play with us in Niagara Falls.”
